Lifeguard III Description
Pay Scale: $11.50-12.50/hour
Days/Hours: Weekday and Weekend shifts
Job Description:
Responsible for the safety of members and participants in and around the aquatic facility. Prevent potential accidents by adhering to policies set forth by the American Red Cross and the Coggan Family Aquatic Complex. Oversee weekend shifts, evening shifts, and special events.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Current Lifeguard Training certification
- Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification
- Current First Aid certification
- Title 22 certification (Preferred)
- Must pass a written and practical skills exam
- Must have excellent knowledge of the facility and programs
- Must demonstrate qualities of a leader and be able to complete tasks without being told to do so
- Must be able to take charge and oversee weekend shifts, evening shifts, or special events
Representative Duties:
- Practice preventative lifeguard techniques at all times to include
oPositioned to have full view of the area of responsibility above and below the surface.
oContinuously scan the area of responsibility
oPerform appropriate rescues when necessary
- Attend in service trainings as scheduled (must present a given topic at in-services to other staff members)
- Participate in random and scheduled lifeguard drills
- Administer First Aid/CPR as necessary
- Perform pool related maintenance duties
- Know the pool rules and educate participants of them
- Answer specific questions about the facility and programs
- Oversee weekend shifts, evening shifts, or special events
- Take on the responsibilities of shift leader when required
oOversee other lifeguard staff
oResolve any pool related conflicts
oPerform opening/closing duties
oOversee the set up of the pool for programs or special events
