La Jolla Aquatic Complex Foundation Endowment Fund

In December of 2005 the Board of Directors of the La Jolla Aquatic Complex Foundation created an Endowment Fund. The income generated by the Endowment Fund will be used to offset any annual deficit incurred from the operation of the Coggan Family Aquatic Complex. The Board of Directors has a goal of raising $1,000,000 for the Fund which currently has a balance of $176,044.

The Coggan Family Aquatic Complex is one of the few, if not only, stand alone, unsubsidized public pools in San Diego County. The pool receives no money from the City of San Diego and the San Diego Unified School District pays only for the time that La Jolla High School physical education classes use the pool.

When the pool opened in September 2002, the annual deficit was projected to be $50,000. Primarily due to rising insurance and utility rates, the deficit rose to $75,000 in 2005 and is expected to be $84,000 in 2006. These deficits have been covered in the past through fund raising events such as SplashBash and the Annual Water Polo Alumni Games and also through the ongoing support of many generous donors.

By attaining our goal of $1,000,000 in the Endowment Fund, we will create an annual income stream the will go a long way in covering any annual deficit. The La Jolla Aquatic Complex Foundation is a California non-profit 501 C (3) Corporation thus any donations made to the Endowment Fund will be tax deductible.
